Origins of Nuesa's Cheese Breads
In the late 1980s, I spent three years living with my mother-in-law Nuesa in her home in Brazil. Every morning she woke up before everyone else in order to make her famous Pao de Qeuijo,
and we would all wake to the smell of her cheese rolls wafting through the house.
By the time I was able to learn to make them to Nuesa's standards, my son was finishing school and he and I decided that this traditional Brazilian comfort food should be shared with all of our friends and family in the U.S. One thing led to another, and our cheese bread business was born, named in honor of Nuesa who taught me to make them the way true Brazilians make them.
You can honor Nuesa by eating these cheese rolls the way Brazilians do - for breakfast, for anytime snacks, or with drinks, and always with gusto and appreciation.
We also believe in giving back to the Brazilian people as much as we can, so a portion of all of our sales goes to support the education and well being of extremely poor children in the state of Bahi, Brazil.
